Fixed-cost AI coding subscriptions are financially unsustainable - the economics simply don’t work long term. Vendors are bleeding money on heavy users while casual subscribers subsidize nothing. My prediction: the entire industry will shift to API-based usage billing, where you pay only for the compute you actually consume.
